Day 65: Whanganui 0 Day
Thursday, February 2
Puff Puff and Julia were leaving early to catch a bus to Palmerston North, so Kristen and I woke up at 7 to say goodbye to them. They hike faster than me so this will probably be the last time I'll see them. It was raining and it was supposed to continue all day. I ate some breakfast and said goodbye to Mike, Dave and Heather.
Everyone else went to a cafe in town and after some food and coffee we said goodbye to Remi, Marjolein, Creya, Erinn and Trevor. Remi was continuing his bike trip and everyone else was trying to get to a campsite out of town.
Kristen and I wandered around town. We mostly looked in shoe shops and art galleries (Kristen was thinking about getting new shoes). After our wandering we sat in another coffee shop for a bit before going to the grocery store and heading back to the hostel. Only Kristen, Sara, Vicky and I were left so we made and ate dinner together and worked on the puzzle for a bit before watching Notting Hill.
Notting Hill is Marjolein's favorite movie and Kristen and I hadn't seen it. When we saw the hostel had it on VHS we told her we'd watch it. It was a fun movie but just a few minutes before the ending the VHS stopped working. We couldn't leave the movie on a cliff hanger so I rented it on iTunes and we watched the last 5 minutes on my phone. We weren't the only ones enjoying it. A random guy staying in the hostel walked across the room to watch the end on my phone. It was a great way to end our time in Whanganui.
This feather puppy was in an art gallery Kristen and I stopped at.
Group dinner.
Our room for tonight. I forgot to take one of Kristen and my room yesterday.
