Day 35: Hamilton 0 Day

Kristen, Erinn, Trevor and I all took the bus from Cambridge to Hamilton and started our morning looking around at Trek and Travel, a local outdoors shop. The owner there was so nice! Trevor and Erinn were on a mission to find good shoes, and Kristen and I were on a mission to plan the Whanganui River trip. On our way to find maps and planning supplies, we found the Riff Raff statue and Rocky Horror Picture Show-themed square. I think the creator is from Hamilton.

The bathroom in the square definitely wins the award for best public bathroom in New Zealand so far. It had futuristic lights in the bathrooms and the outside had dials and cranks and switches to play with that lit up and made sounds. Kristen and I had fun with it!

Then we found a map of the river at bivouac, I got a nalgene because my water bottles have been breaking, and we found highlighters. Once we found a cafe with wifi we sat down and planned the river trip until we had to catch the last bus to Cambridge at 4 pm. Kristen and I went to Good George Brewing to sample their beers and finish planning the river trip, and Erinn and Trevor went to resupply food before meeting us there. It was a delicious meal and the best beer I've had in New Zealand! We all talked with Curly for a bit when we got back and made our plans for tomorrow.
