Day 26: Christmas in Auckland
Today was a wonderful Christmas. I "slept in" until about 7 and talked with my family around 10 am. It's Christmas Eve in the US because of the time change, but they knew it was Christmas for me.
A little after 1 pm, I packed up my backpack with the makings for a Christmas meal and headed over the bridge to meet Marjolein. She's staying at a friend's house while they're traveling for the holidays, so we had a wonderful place to make Christmas dinner and spend time in a hot tub. I was so glad we could have Christmas together! Hopefully our muscles will thank us in a few days when we start walking again.
After dinner we watched Frozen and the start of the Lion King before I had to catch the last bus back into town. It was a great Christmas and I'm sure I'll see Marjolein on the trail soon. She's staying in Auckland a bit longer than me, but she'll probably catch me when I take zero days.
Christmas Hot Tubbing, great on sore hiking muscles!
