Day 47: Taumaranui 0 Day

Sunday, January 15

Today was a wonderful, relaxing day. It started out raining so I was really glad I was taking a zero day. Once all four of us, me, Kristen, Julia and Puff Puff, were awake we did laundry and made breakfast.

Around midday we went to town and stopped at the I-SITE to make plans for Tongariro National Park. It looked like the best day of weather was going to be Tuesday, so Puff Puff and Julia planned to get a ride to Whakapapa early tomorrow to start the Northern Circuit and Kristen and I planned to get a ride later and camp somewhere that would let us start the Tongariro crossing early on Tuesday.

After we all started making tentative plans, we went to the little movie theater in Tamaranui to watch Sing. It was a really enjoyable movie! After that we all went to McDonalds to get dinner and use the wifi and then we walked to the supermarket to resupply.

We made some guacamole and talked with a bunch of TA walkers and others at the campsite and then we all went to bed.
