1 Day 'til TA: Bus Day

1 Day 'til TA: Bus Day

Most of the day was spent on a bus from Auckland to Kaitaia. A nice low-key day before beginning the long walk tomorrow!

As we drive from town to town I was amazed by how many different colors of green there were in all the trees. And we passed lots of sheep, bulls, cows and horses. Nearly the entire drive was on two lane roads once we left Auckland. It reminded me a bit of taking a bus through Honduras a few years ago.

We stopped for restroom breaks and a bit of construction. Everywhere here sells meat pies. They look like mini pot pies. As far as I've seen they're usually $4 or 4.50 and delicious. I have a feeling when I'm tramping through towns I'll be grabbing a meat pie or an ice cream as a snack. Next time I see some I'll have to take a photo.

Another thing that shocked me as we drive from town to town was that nearly all of them had a skate park or ramp. Even when the towns seemed tiny.

That's all for now. Tomorrow everything begins at Cape Reinga!
